Ken’s Cones is an ice cream vendor that is located within the Illawarra region of New South Wales. Their quirky ice cream trucks have been operating in the area for the past 25 years, offering sweet treats to the public as well as catering for functions and events.
Making the most of opportunities
Ken’s Cones joined Live eftpos in March 2015, after seeing an offer advertised on Facebook. Owner Ken Murray required a mobile EFTPOS device that would work with his moving truck and requirements for a strong network reception. He was also intrigued by the additional opportunity to earn Qantas points on customer transactions.

“We have had hundreds of customers who have scraped up enough cash to buy ice cream for their kids. When they find out that we now accept EFTPOS, they open their wallets so to speak and then add flakes, up-size to doubles and even buy themselves one as well!”

“Nothing seems to be a problem and I especially love having a designated Relationship Manager. The technical support I have received is excellent and the team have always been more than happy to assist.

Powering through the pandemic
Like many Australian businesses, Ken’s Cones has been impacted by the pandemic. To keep his cash flow healthy, he has listed his business on Live local, enabling him to sell prepaid digital vouchers to his customers which they can redeem later. Ken’s Cones registered for Live local in May 2020 and to date they have sold over $700 worth of Live local vouchers to his loyal clientele.
“Throughout COVID, having a Live eftpos mobile device has given our customers confidence and the freedom to pay contactlessly.
